    Central Park

    Frederick Law Olmsted's grand vision.

    C&C appreciated.

Tao, I am thinking that the very foreground probably is too much. The bush there distracts me. That being said, I like the rest of the scene quite a lot. The buildings have an interesting hazy feel to them. I guess that a simple crop of the bottom would do well here.

    Seb -
I never have thought about cropping it as you suggested...I'll have to play around with that some now that I have the photo scanned. I may compromise and take out the lighter fg area and leave in some of the bush (this is what looked good when I did the "scroll" crop ). This crop suggestion will help to take your sight to the buildings in the back.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers.

It has the feel of a little hideaway. I think we've all seen these places as kids.. The bush doesn't bother me as much, for it makes it feel very vegitated. But the tilt of the buildings does bother me

Btw, did you notice how monochromatic the pic came out?

I get a way from the city. Nice composition and tonality. I feel it's a nice example of natural framing. I like the detail in the water. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry Seb,,I have to disagree with you here...The foreground gives the image depth and perspective..

Yes, if you block the bush in the foreground with a piece of paper the natural framing is totally off. I agree with Jurgen it that it support perspective. IMO it places you in at a viewing point.

Manasca & Jurgen - Thanks for the secondary opinion. After playing around with crops, I'm happy with the posted version. As always I appreciate the help.

I'm with Seb on the crop but I would not remove the bush totally; just leave about half an inch say and the untidy aspect is then gone.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
