Excellent comp. PP is good and works everywhere for me but the sky, where the tone mapping effect is a little too intense (with halos around the building).
Thanks guys. I have been working on this one for a while, trying to get the mood I wanted. I would have liked the sky to be a bit more ominous! I will try to get rid of the halo and see what I can do about the jet contrails. I am thinking about replacing the door with something, as if the pyramid was a portal into another world or something, but not sure. Thoughts?
Nice job Matt. This is a very geometric shot, so I think it's imperative that things are all lined up and that your lens doesn't distort. You almost have it perfectly level: looks like it's a tilted about 0.1% CW. I would consider almost completely cropping out that foreground dirt/whatever area, for I think it is better without it. This may be entirely in the eyes of the beholder though. Finally, not sure, but it seems a little soft or whatever on the back buildings roofs. Not sure why ... maybe the resizing did that. Also, I like the sky! But I wish it was a tad darker - perhaps a polarizer would help? I am thinking the kind of effect you get w/ B&W film when you use a polarizer and red filter.

I like the framing, great symetry in this. A fine subject that looks great in b&w.
I agree with Dray on the sky, over done for my taste. I also feel the contrails on the right should go as Frog mentioned. A lesser sky would really allow these buildings to standout and pop, which is really the meat of this great shot in the first place.
I really like the composition! The PP is good, but I agree the halos make it look a little overdone.
If you are using PS or LR you could just take the blue luminance slider down a little for the polarizer sky look if you can't re-shoot it with a real polarizer (which would probably be better).
This is a great subject, and you've captured it well. I like the original sky better, as the revision is too bland. I'd try to reduce the contrast between the clouds and the sky a bit. I feel the slight tilt that GB mentioned, and it is worse with the new sky. You might also try to lighten the patches of lawn, as they are so dark that they tend to draw too much attention away from the structures. Despite my comments, well deserved on the sticky!

Thanks Armando, I like the clouds better myself. I wanted it to be dramatic, but I do agree it might be a bit over done, and the halos bug me as well. I think I am going to spend some time fixing the clouds and the door on the first bugs me as well.
Yeah number two is the shot. For some reason I have never cared for jet contrails. Maybe some where in the middle. Some coulds would work, if you are replacing a blank sky anyway. Even converting to a night shot with stars?

Great idea Greg, I think it will take some time to get it just right, but I like the night sky idea. Here is a quick one with the only star shot I have. I might have to get back there and take some real night time shots here.
