    Cellar at tequila distillery

Underground cellar at a tequila distillery

Balanced the colors on the barrels as the lamps had significant different temperature
Pulled the shadows on the wall and ceiling

Appreciate any comments or critiques you may have

    Thanks for looking

I'm looking for something to nitpick...can't do it though. If anything I'd like to see a few more of those barrels lit up, I like what you got with the available light. Is that your shadow on the bottom?

    Re: Cellar at tequila distillery

The whole thing seems to be leaning a little to the right. On the screen I am looking at, there seem to be some completely dark spots - maybe a tad too much ...I may consider cropping a little from the top / bottom.

Thanks n8, it is not my shadow, I'm on the right holding the camera against the wall

Thanks llewpics I tried to crop a bit but decided to keep it as is, do you mean leaning to the left?

    Re: Cellar at tequila distillery

I like it as is. What is interesting, to me, anyway, is that, at a quick glance, the barrels look like corks. The lighting and/or how you captured it, is pretty much perfect. The lanterns are not blown out and there is the right amount of light and sharpness to be able to read the writing on the barrels.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Yep just noticed guy on the right. Get rid if that chump. Cropping it in just that little bit you will not loose anything. Or do some cloning and get rid of him. It is so dark there that any cloning will easily blend in.

I like it too, it does seem to be leaning. Maybe wide angle distortion but I think it's fine.

    Re: Cellar at tequila distillery

Great location and good moody feel to this. I'm not crazy about the composition somehow. It seems too weighted on the left side, especially as its tilted left as well. I'd suggest straightening out the tilt and then cropping some off the right frame and top. I'm feeling the edge of the tunnel wall can be close to the edge of the frame here. Good exposure and nice work bringing out the shadowed areas. Would be a good hdr candidate, but it seems you have it under control enough here.

    Nice work

No, I think you need to leave the right side wall in there but crop up close to it so there is still a good bit of it showing

I was thinking more like this, but looking again at your edit it could work that way too. Its just that after seeing that wall on the left side it doesn't feel right losing it.

I like the shot. I got into photography because I live near several wineries and love the subject.

Although I like the original, I like Gary's crop edit just a little more.

    Nice work

    Re: Cellar at tequila distillery

    Interesting.

I agree that the image may need some kind of tweak: the black area at the bottom seems excessive. But it may be ideal for a poster with text in the lower center and lower right side.

The lighting is outstanding. Not much burn out at all here.

It may have excess negative space, but perhaps the angle could be different too. The camera and tripod could have shifted left about 1/3 of a meter. This would create an entirely different photo: any like that?

    Great Halloween image btw

what an excellent photograph. there was a distortion tilt to the original that was mentioned as i read on. still beautifully taken and processed! 5*

    Re: Cellar at tequila distillery

    Thanks Greg ,
no tripod I held the camera against the wall , I agree it would have been a bit more interesting , but had to compromise the composition a bit , I was on a tour entertaining customers, while one of them also had a nikon 3100 DSLR, everyone else had their phone cameras, or small point and shoots, so bringing my D300 and taking some time for a few photos was already stretching it, bringing a tripod along would look a bit too much

    Thanks so much Liban
