CD Water Art

Got the idea from a photo on flickr, and am enjoy the results. If you get just the right light and angle you can get some pretty awesome colors! Have yet to experiment with different types of cds and dvds, which may have an effect. Any critiques are appreciated!

Edit: Since I uploaded these to Flickr my least favorites have gotten more views than my favorites (same tags) and Flickr rates my least favorites as more interesting (not sure what the decision process is).... guess I think differently from everyone else. I look forward to seeing your opinions!

i think theyre pretty cool. My favorite angle is number 2..exploding across the sky. My favorite color composition is number 3. Nice work.

I like the effect too but you have to be careful with your focus and camera/subject movement. The first and last images seem soft or, out of focus or blurred.

The middle 2 are killer.

jkriminger: Yea I also like the angle of the one that looks like the drops are falling, that has become my favorite now.

MB1: I have shaky hands, so it is hard to keep them in focus for long haha, will try to be more careful.

Great idea! What kinds of lighting were you using? It looks like both florescent and incandescent, am I right?

In the first post, sunlight was all I used. In the second post, I also used the stock camera flash. Nothing fancy haha.

It's a terrific effect .. I must experiment with it myself.
