    Re: Cathedral

Really nice shot! I like the angle and everything that is included. I am wondering if the foremost pillar were a wee bit more to the right, ie, angling yourself to the left. That pillar just a little too close to the center. But I don't know what would be lost with a reposition.
But I really do like this shot.

    Re: Cathedral

I really like this armando, but I wonder what an adjustment with the perspective tool would achieve, I dont think you would loose too much detail.
    That aside nice shot.

Love this shot. Lighting is great as well as the processing. i agree with Pete about trying to straighten the image from the lens distortion. Well done

    Re: Cathedral

hmnix, Gary, Thanks for the comments

Here is a subsequent version, I Worked on the perspective, interesting to see the image with a few guidelines, it was quite crooked, also added a border so if I print it 8x10 it fits without cropping

    A couple of observations:
I think colors are a bit better on this version, the image got converted from the adobe rgb that photomatix used to sRGB that GIMP used. I need to remember to use sRGB with photomatix from the beginning.

Resized looses a bunch of IQ even when doing it in a few small steps, sharpened a bit , but I was starting to see halos, one day I'll learn how to resize properly for the web

    Re: Cathedral

Better, looks good. I do see some halos around the edges of the columns where they are against the bright sky, but they are not too bad and I know that they are exagerrated upon compression for web, so I don't feel they are too big an issue.
    love the shot, nice work.

Congrats on the sticky Armando. I thought the original was good, but your revised image is outstanding. Great perspective and forethought on composing this and the PP is great.

    Re: Cathedral

Really effective geometry, Armando. The columns and the way they come together really draw the viewer in. The dark sky and steeples add a lot to the shot also. My only nitpick is that I wish the center steeple wasn't coming so close to the center column. That is, if you could have moved a little to your left before snapping, I think it would be a more relaxed photo (but that would also move the left steeple closer to the other column). Another small nit pick is that I wish it was just a little bit wider, both vertically and horizontally (this is why I got the Nikon D700 with the full frame, I was running into this situation too often with the 1.5x magnification factor on the D200). Overall, one of the strongest geometric shots I've seen on the site in awhile.

They are both great. The second one is better. Better colors. Grats on the stick.

    Thanks Daq

Thanks GB1, yeah wider will be nicer, it was shot at 18mm with the 18-200zoom , and then I loss a bit from each side after the perspective correction. I didn't have the 11-16 zoom with me at the time it would have been nice to shoot at 11mm
