Calling All The Ships At Sea

Well, perhaps just this one. Taken off the coast of San Diego this evening.

Thanks for posting a comment. I got lucky. Behind me is the Hotel Del, which is what I was really shooting this evening. I turned to see how much sunlight was left and caught this.

    CF,

Nice shot. I like the juxtaposition of the people and the freighter with the sunset. Is there a slight tilt on the horizon or is the ship going upstream?

    PC,

Thanks very much for the comment. I keep looking at the horizon also but then the wave line in the foreground is level. I can't figure it out but it really bugs me, too. Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    CF,

Always use the horizon for the level as the waves come in at different angles so throws out the horizon.

    Lovely shot.

Ohhhhhhhhh, I like it a lot. Nice and dark while still holding some detail and those great rich colors.

I'm thinking you could crop quite a bit off the left to make the ship, setting sun and people more prominent in the frame.

2 Thumbs Up for this one.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Roger/MB:

Thanks so much for the comments. I had toyed with the idea of a crop on the left but, as you can see, ultimately went with what came out of the camera. But, I you have changed my mind. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

    CF,

I agree with Roger on leveling the horizon. If the wave line bothers you after that then use the skew tool to fix it. It would probably be nice to have both of them level.

    PC,

Thanks for the tip. I will play around with it and see what I can do. My PS skills leave much to be desired.
