    Butterfly

This was in my backyard on an old fence post that we had dug up.

Loupey - over to you as the expert.

It looks a little soft to me.

    Re: Butterfly

Hi, Brentm, and welcome to PR!

Nice job. Couple of comments that I hope you will find useful:

The focus is off slightly as the abdomen is more in focus than the eyes. When the wings are in this position, generally try put the entire wings within your depth of field. However, if you used a point-and-shoot camera, changing apertures may be impractical/impossible depending on the model.

Did you use a close-up accessory lens attachment? The corners look distorted.

Colors look a little cool to me (too much cyan and blue).

Hope not to overwhelm you on your first post Just trying to give you constructive points.

Keep shooting and keep posting

    Re: Butterfly

Thanks for the constructive critism, I actually greatly appreciate it.

This shot was taken on a kodak dx4330 just on the normal macro mode. This camera is only 3.1 megapixels and very limited in features.

I recently (like 2 days ago) got a nikon coolpix p4. Will be going to the lake this weekend and I will have my camera with me, hope to get some great shots. The nikon seems like an exceptional camera compared to my kodak.
