    The person really does show the enormity of the trees.
    Having him centered doesn't help the composition, though.

    Yes, I agree. Usually, most of my redwood pics have the person to the side of the trunk and the side of the picture.

    I could crop this one too. The reason I centered here was its the only way to give a feel for the entire spot he's in. Otherwise, I'd definitely put him to the left.

    The example below is closer to my norm. And several have the person even farther to the side. This was early morning sun. Afternoon is much better in this grove

    It is far from the worst centering I've seen and if it portrays the spot he is in, then so be it.
    Rules are made to be broken or adapted to the need of the time and place.

    great way to show the sheer size of those trees. but the person looks too 'posed' for me. had he been doing something else, and not posing for the camera, i think this could've been a better photo. doing what? not sure, maybe even hugging the tree? my imagination runs dry here lol.
