Good idea for a series, Yoyo. your first addition to the theme is a good one. Strong crop, good tones, exposure, and I like the overcast/hazy feel here as it makes the seats pop out against the gray bg. The cityscape in the distance is a big plus as well , lending some feel of "destination" and reason for travel. Look forward to seeing more on your series. good work

    Yoyo,

Great shot. The composition is great, DOF is great, and I love the fadedness of the city in the background. Great shot and good start to a series,

The squared away composition lends a strong formal feel. Do you plan on that for all of the series?
I agree that it's nice to have a destination or departure point for a feeling of travel. Not having people in the shot is kind of a counterpoint to that.
I'm looking forward to some more in the series.

It's a great idea indeed Yoyo and there will be lots of opportunities for you to get a great series. You are already off to a good start.
Your shot reminded me of one I took on the Huangpo River in Shanghai last year. I hope you dont mind me posting it on your thread for you to see.

Hi Gary, Jared, and Chunk, Thanks a lot for the detailed analysis of the shot and encouragement. Chunk, I am not planning to have a formal feel in the whole series. You suggestion to include people in the shot provides another perspective for the future shots.

Hi Tom, Thanks for the comments. I am glad to see your shot. There are many similarities between your shot and mine. I had been to Shanghai once but did not take a boat.

I really like the shot Yoyo, this type of simple symmetrical composition in b&w really appeals to me - nice work

I think a series like that has great potential.
    This a well composed photograph.
It has a lot of balance and symmetry.
I like the feeling of actually being on the ship.
I hope you continue with this!
