Bus for Rosa

My family and I tried to get in to the Rotunda at the U.S. Capitol to say Thanks and Goodbye to Rosa Parks. While we didn't actually make it inside we were about 100 yards from the motorcade which bore her body to the rotunda. This old 50's era metro bus was immediately following her hearse and left empty in her memory.

CL - I like the idea but it seems like it might the entire image is a bit jerky. A lot of the time it is OK if the mition is in one direction only, say horizontally, but if it is up and down also it comes across more as a mistake. Not sure if you have a tripod handy or if the circumstances made using one difficult. I like the bottom one better Btw. Too bad you didnt make it inside.

Yes, hand held. ISO 800 about 1/4 shutter and behind a line of people on the street 100 yards away, the zoom maxed out and with more folks behind me pushing to move on ahead, in the DARK. No time or warning for a tripod I'm afraid, the motorcade was LATE and rolled through pretty quickly. Plus a 2 and 5 year old in tow, hence the reason we couldn't do the four hour line and had to bail before getting into the Capitol. Oh and of course a ban on backpacks, cameras, etc. inside the building. Sigh, oh for stronger press credentials. Still I'm glad I had the opportunity to get out at all and from what I've seen of the still shots of this bus, the Washington Post didn't do a whole lot better, so I'm happy. I like the second shot best too.

Yes, the 2nd shot is best IMO. It serves well with the person visible inside. . . .it almost looks as if you were viewing the scene from within a window that was wet with rain. the effect is nice and it makes one think. It has a "flashback" in time effect. I like it.
