Considering the fast moving fly/bug - you did good! You picked a difficult subject. The color is great - what camera/lens did you use?

I don't know how you would do this because I'm not a macro photographer, but I would like to see the focus more on the face/front of the "fly" - on my monitor the middle part looks more in focus.

This is an interesting crop for insecnt photography, though I think you pulled it off well. I too would like to see a little more focus on the face area, though the in focus section looks great. A nice range of colors too.

    Well done,

    Re: Bug Fly

One of the toughest things about macro photography is getting enough depth of field With fast-moving objects especially, we don't always have time to set up a tripod so we can stop our lens down to an acceptable depth of field. I think that's mainly what this picture suffers from, is an extremely shallow DOF. Also, you may like to begin focusing 1/3 of the way into your subject to get a larger portion in focus.

Like Liz said, the colors are very nice! I think slightly more space on the left may be nice as well. But a nice shot, and extra smart to use a softbox! The lighting is great!

Nice colors on this one. Love the way the eyes jump right out.

    thanks alot
    for the help
i wanted the back in focus so your eyes follow the wings
and i got the dof where the tips of the eyes are barely infocus i think i shot at f6
