Bubbles and Diet Pepsi

Heh...I took this tonight, actually...I had opened my diet pepsi, and left it for a few minutes, and when I went to take a sip, these little bubbles had formed around the edge from the effervescence...I thought it was really cool-looking. I converted to b&w, and upped the shadow a bit.

I'm looking at this thinking that it has the making for something that i should like, but yet something is not clicking here.After looking at it for a while, I think it is the opening inside the can ( is that the surface of the Pepsi liquid or the metal tab from the opening?) that needs to be dark/or darker so as to contrast and offset the droplets at the rim. Right now, the lighted textured are in the opening is distracting my attention from the droplets and causing a very busy, not very eye-pleasing subject. I would try it again and this time either drink more of the pepsi so the liquid is not near the top causing texture distractions, or , if it is the metal tab push it all the way in and out of the light.

I agree........... I love the concept of this and so, hope you don't mind, I played with it a little to try and see what I could do.........All I did was clone inside black.......I like it.

Emily, this is so cool!! I love it when folks see the extraordinary in the ordinary (like Chunk and his dang bubbles!! Mine still won't come out like his!!). Very neat.

Definitely like the second version better. What do you think about going another step and eliminating the Diet Pepsi Free from the sides of the can? To me, this also takes away from your bubble/droplets. In fact, as a macro guy, I might even take one real close that it goes abstract (so not even the entire opening is visible). Just a thought

I actually like the words on the side, just because it's more white against the black, but I might try another shot that way, next time.

I did crop it down even more, but I couldn't find a crop that I liked that brought it down to just the drops that much.

Hi Emily, I really like this shot...I actually prefer the first one, but only because I like the ripple just below the lip. But I did take a liberty and tried a different crop, just for a thought. Hope you don't mind. I was thinking that this brought out the ripple a little more.

This would be awesome as a "warhol" type image, kind of like his Marilyn. I would add some noise, and go overboard with saturation in 4 or 6 colors. Just an idea. It is certainly creative shot, good eye. Favorite part would have to be the repeating of the drops though, it kind of reminds me of a bead necklace.

I like the cloaned out version. Being able to see the liquid takes the emphasis off what we are supposed to be focusing on. Other than that cool shot with awesome calrity.

Chows, modifications are my preference here, you could also do the crop with this one and it would still look good. Nice experiment, must drink more can stuff, where's that beer :-))

I really like the sharpness you got on this. I would also consider softening the lighting a little so that the aluminium is not so blown.

I bet it looks good in colour too.
