    Bubbles

Still wishing for snow up here... we got a light dusting but nothing to write home about.

At least it's been giving me time to go through older stuff and work on my post workflow a bit.

I posted this once before i nthe nature forum but I don't really think it belonged there.

I corrected some of my post work (brought down the saturation as it was WAY over done and corrected the levels and added a custom curve to regain some datail)

Let me know what you think, and as usual, please be brutally honest.

    Re: Bubbles

It's not bad and I think the idea is very good. It still looks very saturated to me, but then again I'm usually not one for strong colors by personal preference. I like the boys posture and only wish the girl were in a different pose or turned around some. The entire image seems soft in focus, but may be due to no or too little unsharp mask and resizing. Increased sharpness would help. Overall, I like the image but those things I mentioned i think would bring it up a notch for me.

    Re: Bubbles

the focus on the kids is off because the AF kept picking up the bubbles. Not necessarily a bad thing as they were the main focus of the shot. The kids were always running away form me as the bubbles were blowing away form me. Gonna try this again in the spring on a nice breezy day and get someone else to operate the bubble gun to give me more angles and opportunities for shots.

The saturation was dialed way back from what I had it at originally but I see what you mean about the sharpness. I'll see what I can do in post and see if I can bring it up a bit.

    Thanx Gary

    Re: Bubbles

Great concept but the really major problem is that they are running in the wrong direction.
This is only effective if we see their faces and their eyes. Their expressions are a major missing part in this shot. A general guideline is composition is that movement should be into rather than out of the photo frame.

    Re: Bubbles

The one thing I really like about this shot is where the bubbles are. I love how there is a bubble right in front of the boy's face. If you're gonna re do that shot, I would really like to see the boy's face in the bubble again.

    Re: Bubbles

I am definitely planning a re-shoot. Since my son is now a bit older I am sure I can convince him to turn and face me as I shoot lol. I did get a few where they were fdacing me but the bubbles just didn't feel right.

But since the snow is finally here, it's going to have to wait until spring now.
