    Brighton Pier

Hi all .. we went down to Brighton today on the south coast of England. This was the last photo I took - dusk was gathering and zillions of birds were flying in huge flocks. This is Brighton Pier.

    Any comments are always welcome.

    Cheers

The lights really stand out and make it for me...I would personally layer that bright area of sky upper left and just tad the levels down slightly. Might give you more cloud definition and make the birds pop out more. A very nice image!
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

    wow.
I think the only thing I would do is brighten up a tad, although it could be my uncalibrated monitor...Normally, I would think there was to much sky, but those birds make it happen...Nice!

Nice photograph. I would lighten the building a bit (dodge in PS) or not.

    Mike,

Nice shot - glad to see people on the pier in the middle of winter. My only comment is that it could do with a touch more space at the bottom or better definition of the legs toward the left touching the water.

PS. When are you around end of Feb? Another get together in the planning stage

I agree with Roger's comment, being tight at the bottom . Also I see some red object below the pier that might be a distraction on print. Great capture Mike, as always...

    Re: Brighton Pier

Thanks guys for your comments. It was really almost a grab shot - the lights came on literally while I was walking past it, and I just leant my elbows on a railing to keep the camera steady.

I agree that, if I were going to make this up into a print, that I would have to do something about the sky top left. I also agree that a little space at the bottom would be helpful - unfortunately, in the pics I have with more space, the birds aren't nearly as prominent.

Greg - the red thing is a buoy of some kind, tangled up in the pier supports - I agree that it might be better to clone it out as it is a little distracting for no good purpose.

Roger .. I am pretty free at the end of Feb, with the proviso that I am not called away to a church (along the lines of which you are aware) - I would certainly be up for an outing!

    Cheers

    Re: Brighton Pier

I like the way the intensity and color of the sky and the lights on the pier match so closely. I too think a little more water below the pier would be good (although the image is fine the way it is),the red bouy doesn't bother me or catch my attention at all.

    Good one.
    No, I DON'T need that.

You picked a great time of day to shoot this. The lights on the pier add a lot.
