    Re: Brew Gears

I'm not quite sure what to make of the first photo. It seems it's not concentrated on anything in particular, and it seems a bit blown out in spots.

The second photo I like the most, but perhaps a tighter crop on the top? The red at the top of the photo catches my eye and drags it away from the bottom barrel. Perhaps a slight crop from the left as well.

But overall, I do like the second picture.

Thanks....I guess I wasn't really focusing on anything particular in the first pic....I like it for the linear composition. I agree, I can definitely crop the second pic...

Fair enough. I hadn't even thought about linear composition.

I'm thinking there is just too much stuff in these images with no place where the eye naturally stops. I scan them and move right on.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Brew Gears

Like it's been mentioned, the first picture is kind of nutty, things all over it and shooting off in different directions.

The second shot is OK, but it is not sharp enough. It appears that you hand-held the camera with a slow shutter speed and/or very little depth of field. Sometimes that's all you can do, but the pic would be so much better if sharp.

If you don't have access to a tripod, try bracing against a wall or laying your camera down on a ledge and then using the self timer when taking the shot.

Also, the bright area in the second shot seems to be a bit washed out. Strong light coming in from the side?
