Very nice, looks quite professional. I could see where people might find borders distracting, but this one's color was skillfully chosen. I think it adds to the shot. I like the placement of all the objects in the photo. The way the knife is lying is esp creative. The lighting is good, except for the foreground which I feel should be totally cropped out (or at least partially) since it doesnt add anything and feels devoid (and is dark). Nice table too.

I don't think it needs to be croped at all. The texture of the cutting plock and the crumbs create leading lines into the subject. This also places the bread the knife and back ground in the top third of the picture (rule of thirds). Well done! This picture would also look good in black & white.

Cropping's good, but good can often be improved: I'd like to see a 'strip' shot: cut off say 10% of the foreground to make more of a short, horizontal rectangle. It might also be cool, if you can, to include more of the wooden frame @ the top right; it's a bit cut off.

Is it me, or is the color contrast/saturation a bit too high, leading to a bit of extra red in the bread?

Also, why is there a green and a blue blob in the loaf in the foreground right? It's a little scary!

nice shot i love the look you got here. i work in a bagle shop and i bake the bagles its not bread but its pretty similar when you cut an older bagle lol.

Thanks J-Dogg I've seen your shoe shots they are pretty good. I've got a couple of dunks I got in LA that not many have in SF.

I find this photo very unique and refreshing, but would agree with GB1 and TenOx about the cropping. I would also add that it seems to me the loaf on the right could use a tad more light thrown upon it. Maybe not...just my feeling.

And TenOx, that little blue bob thing is the special "surprise" you get in every loaf, hehe.

I also like this shot and think that the bottom needs to be chopped off a bit to just below where the bread crumbs on the right is. If you just scroll down using the browser to cut off some of the bottom, I think you'll see that it improves it quite a bit. Love the tones and colours though, the DOF is right on, but it would look even better with the bottom gone. I think a panorama like crop could work wonders for this. Very nice capture cr.

I like the photograph.
I think the placement of the bread and knife in the foreground against the other loaves in the background, gives a good feel for the overall environment. The depth of field on it is just right.
The placement of the loaves of bread and the knife seem natural and flows well across the frame.
I am not much on the framing, but it is a personal thing.
