    A boy and a stream.

I was out with my four year old and came across a cool stream crossing and got this shot. Sony alpha, 18-70mm kit lense. A little soft on the focus due to low light near dusk.

The framing of this shot works very well, I feel. The softness is not helping though, and I also feel the image is far too contrasty. It is hard to feel any depth from the scene as the water and rocks and background seem to blend all together. The placement of the boy in the picture and the reflection of him in the water are good, just wish the reflection could be more visible. Did you shoot this in color, and then convert? I would like to see what this looks like in color. The B&W conversion may not be doing this any justice.

The subject matter is good and leads me to think of a boys wonder at the world.
Its so tall I cannot see the whole photo at once which is disconceting.
The focus works to give it the dreamy look but I think it would lose nothing by being sharper too.

I agree with Frog completely. At the same time... I do see too much contrast. The softness gives it the magic, mystery, curiousity.
GREAT capture.Kids are excellent subjects anytime.
