I would crop tighter to eliminate the two boys on the left - since they are looking in the cameras general direction, my eyes tend to move away from your intended target.
The subject looks more "mischievious" than bored. Something with his posture. Nothing you could have done. Keep on shooting.

I thought about that but when I covered the two boys on the left the subject had to compete with the lady's big white bright jacket. Maybe if they were more blurry, they could say in the shot?
Was chopping his fingers a big no no?
I only got one shot in since I was trying ot be sneaky.
One of my first attempts in shooting strangers unknowingly.
A tighter crop centering on the void between the woman and the boy would be my choice.
As for the fingers, showing what you did does want me to see the entire hands. So cropping in closer (I'm thinking to about midpoint of the forearms) would not hurt.
If you feel unfortable shooting in such conditions, you could always shoot with the camera on your chest. Dial in more wide angle so that you can crop later and hope the camera autofocuses on your intended subject. Somewhat hit-or-miss but people's expressions tend to look more natural.
Manacsa,,,I would have zoomed or moved in on the guy with his head stuck in the step ladder...Try to avoid backs of heads (the lady with her back turned to camera),,they are "wasted space"..

Here are both of your suggestions in my best translation. What do you think?
I realize that in any of the versions, the lady right above his head bothers me. They are too aligned.
I think the boy is still a good subject with his expression but the elements around the photo are a challenge. Wish I took more shots but once he heard the first click of my camera he moved out of position.
