    Boob Tube

One guess what he is staring intently at.

C&C please. I made basic edits but don't know where else I should go with it. I do see that I am out of focus on the right side of his face a little. I'm still getting a hang of this and I am preferring manual.

** I wanted to clarify my title...when I was growing up my parents called the T.V. the "Boob Tube". My son was watching a children's show on TV, nothing elicit .

I would say that the eyes are too dark and that the skin on the right side (face and hand) is overexposed. Maybe some fill flash??? Overall it could be sharper (hand held?). - TF

I was not using a flash but he was sitting below and in front of a window, hence the overexposure on the right side. His eyes are actually almost black so when I fiddled with the contrast and saturation they did get darker (too dark).

    Thanks for the critique.

The depth of field is really tight on this shot, you might try backing off a stop or two and that should cure the "out of focus" parts of the face/hand. You might be able to use unsharp mask to bring it back a little too (if you have photo editing software at your disposal). The window light blowing out the side of his face *is* a problem, but it could be easily rectified by using a fill flash or simply putting something between the window and him to diffuse the light (curtain, sheer, sheet, freezer paper, whatever...)

Your model is quite photogenic though, and well worth reshooting!

Awesome critique and so helpful to a newbie like myself. You are right, I realize my DOF was too tight. I also should have pulled the curtain.

This is my middle child so he will be subjected to many more photo shoots
