    Bonsi Lightening

Would this have worked better with more DOF ?

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Regarding DOF - it all depends on what the subject is. I do struggle with this myself, since if you are using a macro lens, even higher apertures will not always cut it. However, in this case - I would say more would be better - since the subject seems to be the electrical discharges coming from the terminals. I would also consider rotating the view so the upper right bolt (contact) is more toward the top ...still, and intriguing photo.

HA! Love it lol, thats awesome, I only wish we had a better view of the object, which is a little too dark and obscure to tell exactly what it is. I think it would have worked better from a perpendicular top-down view, that would have helped your DOF at the same f-stop, and a little more exposed to make out the object.

*edit - though I realize this is probably a car, and you may not be able to get a perpendicular top-down view. hmmmm......,

DOF could be greater, but more importantly i think the perspective needs to be different. i agree with Anbesol in that a top down view would help on both points.

Thanks for the thoughts guys, its no problem to set this up again and have another go at it, I dont think the owner will want that faulty rotor back..
This is the only one I have with the suggested perspective

LOL insulation seems to have failed ... a bit
I can smell the ozone ...

Sparks are hard to focus because they move all over ,
you seem to have found enough DOF to have them look crisp

    I like the color

on this last shot a bit more room at the bottom would be nice
