It is a bit noisy but I did not have time to switch to a lower ISO before the boat passed the sun

I like it! The sun is cool looking the way it looks crunchy on the bottom and gives way to the sillouhette of the boat.

Nice shot Armando, the composition is very appealing, all elements work add nicely.
My picky side...the amount of noise in the sky takes away some of its punch.

I like the shot overall. I would have left a tad bit more on the left side of the shot to make it look as if the boat has a little further to go. There is a lot of noise in the sky which is distracting. Good job on grabbing the bird as it flew by.

it is dark indeed, the boat is merged with the background, visible but yes a little hunting is needed.

You and I were always the two who found the most shots to be too dark. I just got a new monitor and now can see both boats just fine. I have also done some playing with them side by side and it's not really 'brightness'. I can adjust the brightness of the old monitor or the image on it until the highlights are way blown and still not see the detail in the dark areas that I see on the new one. Actually, increasing the gamma is what makes the old one look more like the new one than anything else. Both old and new were calibrated with the same Spyder2.

It is certainly dark, but i can easily make out the silhouette of the boat and bird above. I wishe there were a bit more frame on the left. there is a pleasing artistic quality about this. i think if you can squeeze a bit more illumination out of it even if it becomes very grainy it might look even better.

A little lighter.

Crop substantially more, say a 2/3 ratio rectangle around the boat, sun and bird flying above them.

That might do the trick.

Overall I like the shot. The only element that is a bit much is the noise. Nice capture though.

I haven't the time to get out my calibration stuff but I did a built in thing with the monitor and I think I was changing gamma. Went from 9300 to 5500 and it shows much better.
Have to do a calibration before I try any printing I guess.

I like the composition of the first best, and the detail and lighting of the second. I think that the best results would be a combination of the two. IMHO the small boat under tow adds to the shot. Again great reflexes and shot.

Looks like you have enough information in the file to pull something out of it. I think your crop is too much over to one side now and you lost the little dinghy trailing behind.
Start with the original you posted and just open up a bit on each end to get an 8x10 format. Then just increase your brightness a bit more, but not so much as you have done now.

I like the last edit much better than the other two. A couple of things. I wish there was a little more separation between the sun and ship. Got any more pictures? Maybe one just before the ship gets to the sun?? Also I wish the bird was slightly more to the left. You could bump him over a bit in PS.

The 2nd crop is getting even better.

I like Gary's view of more separation between sun and boat as one possible shot, but I think I actually would have preferred the sun directly behind the boat. This would better highlight its shape.
