    Boat At Sunrise

Hey Fellas, just another quicky i have here. I recently got back from Destin Beach, FL, , and had a couple pictures that i thought turned out nice. I have posted here, 2 simple enough pictures. I just wanted to see what other's might have to say on them

    Thankyou

I like the second one a lot. It imparts a lot of feeling, like coming home after a long day at sea.

    Re: Boat At Sunrise

    K -

I'm a sucker for sunrise and sunset shots. These ones have a nice saturated color, though it reminds me more of the desert than the water.

The idea of a simple foreground shape in both of them is sound, but I think that they might lean more towards snapshots due to several issues. The first one would look immensely better if the sun was just behind the boat instead of the buildings, which draws my attention to them instead (but there is nothing special about these particular buildings). Not sure if you could have adjusted your position though. The second photo is OK but again would be immensely better if the sun was positioned differently - here I think it could be behind the hook. I also wish there was a fish on the hook, or at least bait (but this is not a super bad thing that it does not have either).

I think in shots like this were the intense light has heavily darkened the photo and silhouetted the foreground objects that it's even more important to choose good subjects and place them at great parts of the image.

    Re: Boat At Sunrise

Thank you Dr.Robucks for the comment, and GB1 those are some opinions that i agree with to the fullest, i have got 2 other pictures with different positioning, and i didnt have much room to move around, being on the boat, but heres what i have

Here is another view from the boat, i got the rail in to add to the picture.. so you know its from a boat, and give to the feel a bit. i dont know why, but the top corners are darkened a bit -

And heres the boat directly infront of the sun

another hook shot.. not the basketball one

**Heres some just for me, i liked taking these pictures, the dolphins were infront of the boat, and i was hanging over the edge,, felt action packed ! lol**

    Re: Boat At Sunrise

I think you did better with the second round of postings. There is only so much you can do when you can't move left or right or up or down (I think the shot of the boat with the sun behind it would have looked great if you could have gotten lower that is.. this would somewhat eliminate the background buildings...). The fish hook shot may be a bit dark overall. Not sure if you can do any particular thing in PS that would substantially change it though (I am not a PS expert, so what would I know).

The dolphins are nice esp the bottom one, but I would like them better in horizontal format.

    Re: Boat At Sunrise

thanks Polarbeardiggers, and thanks GB1 for comin' back to the post. I think you're right about the horizontal idea, its funny i never thought about that. And yea no buildings would have been great. Alot of what was on that particular part of the beach was a bunch of hotels and what not..

Would you rather see nothing but water on the horizon? Or a bit of flat land on it as well?? I'd like to try out some things with ps -
i'll also post up a brighter example of the hook, see what i can get

    thanks again
