    Boat on a river

NYC tour boat on it's way to Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty. Listing to starboard in part caused by passengers trying to get a better view.

    Re: Boat on a river

    Sorry, I missed this one.

This shot shows what it would be like to be there. You have good exposure for the time of day with none of the highlights being blown out except maybe a little on left of boat but I don't think it is bad.
You have a good city background. The sky is really ugly. But maybe that's what a NYC sky looks like?
A circular polarizer might have helped but hard to tell, not having been there.

Thank you very much for your comments. I used a polarizer but haze and smog didn't help.
Did you like the capture? Does it tell a story? Is it a non event?
    Thanks again,
    Ed

It's not a bad shot. My only issues are the centered horizon and the softness of the shot. It makes for a good touristy image of the city. Some nice clouds probably would have helped a lot on this shot. I've taken photos from near the same area and have gotten some pretty nice late evening and early morning shots while working in NY and playing tourist around my work schedule.

    Re: Boat on a river

Just want to say again that it is a good shot considering the circumstances. Mid-day, harsh light, boat moving rapidly toward you,(difficult focus situation).

Does it tell a story? Well I knew right away that it was a ferry in NYC. Wouldn't have known it was the one to Statue of LIberty without reading description but that's no biggy.
