I like the touch of whimsy here. Subject in sharp focus with soft pink colored sweatshirt, could use a bit more saturatiion though. Overcast lighting didn't help here.
The sand has great texture. BG nice and soft and gives the scene identity. I do feel that the headless individual should go. I would crop the left side of the frame to remove him.
    Nice capture.

There is a really nice shot in here. The figure upper left needs to go, doesn't add anything and distracts as well. The sand/water horizon could use more definition, the colors blend a bit.

Here is another from from the same scene.
    60mm
    F5.0 1/8000
    ISO 1000
    Canon 60D
    Canon 18-200
    Saturation/contrast adjusted in lightroom

Note the drastic changes in my settings...I had the camera for about 10 days at this point.

    Thanks for your comments

    Re: Boardwalk

I actually liked the original as it was. The tones were more soft/subtle. The inclusion of the person on the top left added to this shot. Made it more candid and more about the scene. Isolating the kid and his butt crack makes the butt crack more of an imposing subject in the 2nd. hahaha. Which I think doesn't work as well as the first candid shot which the butt crack was more a slightly funny addition rather than the strongest element. For that I prefer 1.
