looks too much like high noon sun, I'd prefer softer light. I suppose its a good shot but I'm really tired of flower shots, its not unique enough for me to separate itself from the 70 billion trillion other flower shots.

Way better than the your original photo !

as Anbesol commented it is hard to get people excited about flower shots, I also do like taking flower shots and have seem little response to many of my flower shots, hope this doesn't discourage you to continue improving your flower shots.

I agree about the comment on shooting with softer light.

First, I like this shot when it comes to color, contrast, and detail. I think its a little overly sharpened, otherwise its very good one.
Second, Photography is like all other forms of art, you must present audience with something new, interesting and of good quality to have them tuned to your work.

I disagree about the value of flower shots. I think that they are excellent subjects for us to learn on - available, difficult and beautiful. To me, photography takes 'target practice' just like shooting does. Putting a hole in a target may not be very exciting, but if you only take the shot of a lifetime without practice, you will miss it. - TF

I think this has excellent exposure and dof.
The light may be a little harsh but if we only shot at the golden hours we'd miss a lot wouldn't we.
Not sure this will stand out amongst all the flower shots but it is well done.
    Keep Shooting!

    Where's the blood?

The flower itself is beautiful, but the background and "pose" of the flower does nothing for me. Certain flower shots do make me go ooohhh and aahhh, but it takes something special. Keep going and I have a feeling you'll find that.
