    Birthday Pie

My hubby decided he'd rather have apple pie for his birthday, and this is a picture of my daughter blowing out his candles...

This might be dark on some monitors...

Normally I would say it is too dark and could use some fill flash, but I think you have captured the mood of the moment perfectly with the candlelight. The great expression and posture of your daughter makes this a very effective photo. one thing I don't like is the line just below the pie.
    Great shot,
    Mark.

    Emily,

This is a loverly moody picture and perfectly captured. I love the way you captured the detail without blowing out the candles and the top of the pie.

Your daughter's pose looks wonderful and you can see that she's taking in a big breath - superb.

    Very well captured.

Sometimes dark is just what you have to do. A fill flash would have destroyed the ambience of this moment. Good exposure and nice catch.

Thanks Mark, Roger and CLK...I really appreciate the feedback on this!

Mark...I agree about the line there...I had cropped out my husband's thumb though, and couldn't make it work crop-wise without the line. I may try to clone it out...

If its the table joint, then I have no problems with it.

It is that...actually, if you look right under Julianna's arm...you'll see a faint line there too...which is also the table.

    Re: Birthday Pie

I agree, emily. I think the darkness of this image is just what gives it the punch it needs. You can still see enough detail to see your daughter's face and her expression. With the line being part of the table, I don't think it should matter. Very nice capture and happy birthday to your husband.
