This image is very well done. The intensity of the colors as well as the detail you captured in the shot are incredible. Kudos to you on a great image.

I agree with Ken. That is just outstanding in color and composition!!! The only drawback is that the center of focus looks to be a little short. If only you nailed the eyes in the focus. But, that is just a nit pick. Fantastic image!
Emily, this is a great shot, I love the colors and the pollen/dew drops. I agree that the focus is a little off. Will you describe how you got this shot? For example, tripod or handheld, where were you, did you chase the bee or was this a happy accident, what lens. Thanks!
Thanks all for looking and commenting!
Yeah...the focus is a little off...I persuaded my husband that I NEEDED a lens to go along with my new camera, and I'm getting used to both...lol. It's a quantary 70-300 that has a macro setting, and I was using the macro setting to take some photos of these flowers. I spotted this little bee and just was able to snag this shot before he went on to the next flower.
Again, thanks so much for the comments and such...I appreciate it!
my favorite from you yet! what a wonderful capture. my only nitpick- my eye is drawn to the little brown fleck in the top right. other than that i think its great- composition is really awesome.
It's a beautiful image, wel spotted !
The colours are fantastic.
Shame about the back focus though, it's sharp on the rear of the flower and not on the hoverfly. But you have so little depth of focus handholding it at a reasoinable shutter speed that I'm impressed you got this.
Perhaps if you selectively soft focus the flower in photoshop you can bring the attention back to the fly in the foreground, instead of the specks of pollen on the blue petals.
