    A Bird in the Hand

I thought I would share these 2 photos I captured while sitting in my office at home, I have a window next to my desk with a large tree just outside it. I took these this past winter as you will see snow on the branches, I like the DOF in these as you will notice it makes the birds stand out. Enjoy

They are very nice. I love the DOF in the first one and the birds expression but the Cardinal one stands out so great! I am a center person...I know rule of thirds but I can't help it and I think centering him makes him more of the subject. Great Job!!
I wish we had Cardinals here......

How do you get such sharp captures? I guess it's superior equipment.

It not superior Equipment, it's the correct focal lenght lens and good lighting. My guess he used his 70-200 zoom, and that is a fast lens.

Your guess is right I did use a Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS USM lens on a 20D. from where I took the picture the distance couldn't have been more than 15-20 feet away. And I even shot it thru a window as well.

i would call a 70-200 f2.8L superior equipment - of course comparably speaking. That seems to be a pretty popular lens around here!

however yes - you dont need superior equipment, it just so happens that he does have it though ;)
