It seems soft to me but I like it for the most part. The horizon line is especially nice with the hills and the trees in the distance. The sky is a little too light for my liking but I enjoy the clouds and how they interact with the trees in the foreground.

Different.. I like how the trees seem (are) to be tilting to the right there, then curving back a bit at the top. It makes it seem like the entire row of subjects is slip-sliding out of the frame, a really different effect.

Now for the technical part. I think the subjects are good, but it appears that the scan isnt the greatest (some strange large pixels at the bottom). I wish there was a little more blank area above the tree tops, and I find the bottom snow being that dark somewhat disappointing (there's nothing like bright, well-lit snow!). I guess the day was a little gloomy, and there's not much you can do about that (and it's not good to linger outside in such cold weather - causes frostbite), but I just get the feeling like the scene is about 1/2 f stop ore more too dark ??? You can always adjust the density and see.

I love the shot. The black and white is great, definitely with the snow and the silhouetted trees. My one concern is the tree on the right hand side...it being cropped off is some what concerning, as I think leaving the tree in the crop would add for a more fluent shot.

jared and amanda - thank you for the compliments.
Seb - I think the softness is from the scan, somewhat. This is on 120 film and the detail in the larger trees is amazing...although the foreground bushes and twigs are a bit out of focus and softer than they should be.

The shot was taken in waist deep snow about a hundred yards from the road...it was serious hard work to get to the scene, lucky I had my snowboard gear on, otherwise I would have froze. The scene is actually on a slight hill, sloping left...I descided to keep the hill straight which gives it that interesting slip sliding feel.
I know...nothing like good clean, white snow!
But, I wanted detail in the trees and had to make the sacrifice...although I do have a neg with about a stop difference. I have not printed it yet...but the density of the snow and sky would be more to your liking, however I will lose the detail in the trees. I will print that neg in the darkroom over the next week and post.

All in all, I'm stoked by the results from a camera that is the same age is me and the negatives are so much more fun to play with than 35mm. :)
