    The Big Lenses

demo at my first meetingof the Winnipeg Photo Club. When I got my Nikon I got the nerve to join. I blurred out the faces of all members except the President. No faces without individual permission is the standing rule.

It is cool that you joined a club, do they loan them babies out?

If so it would almost be worth buying another body just to use them.
    No, I DON'T need that.

No they don't own them. The president of the club was asked to test them. The are heavy and hard to use. Most tripods cant hold them. The field of vision is so narrow you cant find yoru subject without a fair amount of searching. According to the tester one of the lenses, the Sigma, isn't even that sharp.

I'm guessing the closest one is a Nikon 600mm.

    Good lord 1000mm!!!!!

I like this shoot for the simple reason that I didnt know that you actually screw the body into the lens, and one second later I've realised that it's easier and sensible done this way.:mad2:

You just made me have a unexpected blonde moment LOL

    Thanks for sharing that picture.

My lord, those are what I call heavy. Wonder if they have a mount for them like they do 50mm guns the army uses, I could cut out a turret in my lumina and roll. But what a neat club hopefully you can learn a little from them, and they can learn from you.

    Re: The Big Lenses

I was told there is a special mount where the lens actually hangs down from the tripod. Dan, the president, didn't have that special mount so he uses a regular tripod. It is a heavy duty tripod but he had to tioghten the tripod controls so hard it hurt his hand.
