Looks like a Hawk moth caterpillar.
If it was in the UK I'd say it was the Lime hawk moth.
The stripes are right, the posture is right for one threatened, the tail is right.
Lucky to find it.
I'd take it and some of its food plant, keep it in an emptied aquarium and feed it until it pupates. Then wait until next year to photograph the moth as it emerges form the pupa.
