    Re: Beyond Caring

I love B&W, but I don't think this photo compares to the color version. There is not enough tension or interest in the B&W to give it that pop.
The color version however provides interesting color (pink) to the run down house that really adds pop that the B&W is missing.

    Cheers.

I would like to hear your views on this version also and which you feel is the best because like the paint on the walls I am torn.
    Many thanks

Tom, the color version is the way to present this. The soft tones of pink and green are beautiful, especially set against the rubble and ruin of this derelict house. The colorings and tones are exceptional.

I agree with Gary, the color is the right choice here. It adds that extra element of realness for me. Compositionally this shot is strong, and the colors are subtle yet very useful. Great eye and a wonderful shot.

    Re: Beyond Caring

I was about to post and say "nice shot" until I saw the color version. Now I have to agree with the others, color is absolutely the way to go. Not having seen the color version, I can say that the black and white can stand on its own. But once you see the color version it puts it away. Nice work on the composition and great eye for the subject.

    Re: Beyond Caring

    Hi Tom,
The fading pink colour adds a lot to the shot. The unsaturated pink and green indicate the photo-degradation of the original much saturated colorants. It seems to be a testimonial showing the ageing of the house. The black dots on the wall, which may be fungi, make me feel the high humidity in the scene. Thanks for sharing.

Love this! The color version is my fave, adds a feeling of contrast to the image IMO.

    Re: Beyond Caring

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to come back and thank you all for your comments.
Yes I do feel that the colour is the right job for this one; so much is lost in the conversion.
The colour gives a nice insight into the surroundings and ambience that the occupants lived in.
    Thanks again
