    Berkeley Pier

One of the places in the bay area that I had never been to before was the Berkeley marina and pier. I didn't have much time, but got a couple shots that I like.

What's the take on this one? This is from the Oakland/Berkeley side of the bay looking toward SF. That's the Golden Gate bridge in the background.

    Thanks,

    PC

I've got some others, but I'll roll them out later.

I like the soft colors and composition. The intermittant seagulls is a nice detail.
Only thing I'd change is to clone out that streak,(probably a contrail), just right of the seagull's head on the third lampost.

    Nice stuff.

Oh, this is great. You were there at the right time of the day and ready to shoot.

My only small complaint is that I wish you moved a foot or so to the right or back so the light pole wasn't almost blocking one of the bridge towers.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Good perspective. I agree with MB about the pole blocking the bridge tower. Small nitpik.
I feel the exposure could even have been reduced a 1/2 stop or so. Nice colors, mood and point of view.

    can only add a ditto...

very nice colours though. the bridge in the back is so subtle though instantly recognisable....

just a bit to the right and the whole bridge would have been included although it might have meant that the entire pier wasn't.

    still very nice indeed....

Thanks for the feedback. I pretty much went out there with something like this in mind, so I'm happy it turned out the way it did.

Frog - nice catch on the contrail. It almost looks like it's going to hit the bird in the head.

MB - Good comment on the bridge. I was really trying to keep myself centered in the pier and didn't really spot the overlap.

Gary - Thanks for commenting and the feedback. I'll have to try the 1/2 stop to see what it does. Given the conditions I was worried about it getting too dark.

3lions - I appreciate the feedback as well. I'm going to have to look at some of the other shots I took to see if I have one with a better perspective on the bridge.

I love it. That is all.

Ha ... I was going to say almost the exact same thing, except that I wished he'd move a smidgen the other direction so the pole was completely blocking the bridge tower.

Still a beautiful shot. Well done.

    Re: Berkeley Pier

Thanks MrEastSide, DrRoebuck, and Rick. I appreciate the feedback and nice comments. The overlap with the bridge and lamps is something that I didn't really see when I was there. It's probably one of those problems of seeing in 3D while shooting in 2D. I'm still looking for a perspective with a better tie between the bridge and pier. I'm not sure that I necessarily like the bridge behind the lights, but I don't think it's too bad here.
