    belated fireworks

i know, all the fireworks shots were posted long ago, im a little late.

anyway - i took a different approach then others here, i went for the more abstract head on shots - with a full second exposure and letting camera shake and the motion blur do its magic. i used the 18-70 and the 70-210, sometimes zooming in during the exposure to get that look.

Let me know what you think. I think theyre kind of on the borderline of being too abstract.

    Hi,
I especially like shots 2 and 3. They resemble flowers to me. I also like the low smoke of the fireworks. Thanks for sharing.

Successful technique. Seems each one is a Macy's advertisement or neon sign. # 2 esp has a spectacular and elegant design with just the right amt of space and separation between the main burst at the top and the little eddies at the bottom. Very nice work!

    Re: belated fireworks

    Thanks for teh responses!

I found a great application for these pictures - printer benchmarks!! great way to test color accuracy, and an even better way to test the composite black ability and fine line, edge to edge sharpness, etc.

I tested the first one on an HP 8250, Epson RX700, and Canon MP950. The hp, needless to say was terrible, faded and fuzzy. the epson did a pretty decent job overall, but the canon was the undoubted winner! see the golden streaking in the first pic - the canon managed those streaks flawlessly, perfect placement, did quite an amazing job really.

    Re: belated fireworks

I prolly like the second one best - maybe with more color saturation and the background darker.
