    Before the rains

The country showing the effects of a long dry summer.
Its quite sad the amount of detail you have to leave behind when sizing the image for web

Pete it's very beautiful. The composition is nice and the lighting well balanced.

    Re: Before the rains

I agree, this is a very appealing composition. While I like the colors, they do seem a bit over-saturated and pulling back on the gold color a touch might put it more in the realm of reality (I'm assuming HDR has been done here, maybe I'm wrong). To me, 80% of the interest is in the right third of the frame. I can see an outstanding vertical image there, with the fence leading to the fissures going up the hills and leading to those outstanding clouds. There is a lot of texture here to explore.

    Re: Before the rains

Thanks Ken, the pixelation due to sizing for web seems to have made it a bit more contrasty and thus the colours appear a tad more saturated. This image at the moment is used a wall paper on my iMac and at reasonable resolution appears a lot closer to the scene on the day.
