That should be your avatar for the forum! Nice picture of a frosty brew with the team logo!!! Hope you got to drink it when you were through immortalizing it!
Now for your critique: I think there is some great use of composition going on here. The stands in the background tell you what you need to know about the event. The cup's placement is prominent but not centered. Your over all lighting is even and clean. And, what I like best personally is that you can see the beer has a few sips missing which I think is appropriate for a hot summer day at the ball park.
To sum up ~ there is NOTHING to complain about with this shot IMHO. Nice work John! I like it.
*Edit* Darn I have to take it all back, your beer is 1 or 2 degrees off, tilting to the left (or maybe it's right don't trust that I'm dyslexic), even that out and you will have restored this to unimpeachable.
I like it except for the slight tilt which is easy to clean up in PS, and it seems to be too cramped on the left side, it seems slightly unbalanced. I would have liked to see a program, or ball glove, or even a hat to the right side so that it looked like a fan (which you are no doubt) was enjoying the game and we go to see everything from that perspective. Other than that great shot.

Hell, there are no rules here-- we're trying to accomplish something.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

ZR--I cropped it tight to the left because there was the tip of a drink tray showing. I definately would love to have had more room to play with on the left. I don't have PS, and my software has no means of skewing pictures.

This shot was a real grab. I was standing by a gate getting ready to go on the field to photograph between innings fan participation, when I saw this beer sitting there----no time to 'add' elements such as a hat or program or ball. A lady went to reach for it, and I yelled "'Don't touch that beer". Her arm is in the full picture, as was the head of another fan, so I had to crop that out too.
Have you looked into Photoshop Elements? I use it and love it and it's so much more affordable than the full on PS and Creative Suite programs. Has everything you need and then some.
As to correcting the tilt, (it's so slight it should hardly count at all but you know we're all sooo picky), if your cropping tool has the ability to be rotated prior to actually cutting the image you should be able to correct it that way. Just line up the top edge of the crop lines parallel with the beer line in the cup and you have achieved straightness. Then crop off the tilted edges and you're set.
Oh just realized that might be double tricky with the tightness on the left side probably just ought to leave well enough alone. (c;

Cindy, my budget is really, really restricted right now. Of primary importance, and #1 on my needs list is more memory. #2 is PSE
