    Becky

I'm always posting shots of Gina here, so I thought I would post one of one of my other daughters.
I've been trying to work on improving my colours. I was pretty pleased with this shot. No filters this time.

    Info:
    Canon EOS 350D
    50mm 1.8 MKII lens
    AV mode
    F/5.6
    SS 1/100
    ISO 100
    Flash not fired

Nice portrait, I like the framing but the image color seems a little flat, but as usual it may be my monitor.

No it's not your monitor. I have been trying to get away from being too contrasty, too red. Going more for pastels but I can't seem to get the balance right. Best I stick to rich colours lol.
    Does this look any better?

My monitor has it a little flat also, but it's also a cheap LCD. Framing is nice though.

    Re: Becky

Alison - This portrait is not quite as strong as your others. I think it's because the angle it was shot at produced some strange geometry in her shirt and shoulders area. For whatever reason the tilt of Becky's head doesnt go with the rest. I like the color of her shirt, but also feel that it commands too much attention away from the rest of the shot. -GB

I know what you mean GB. I was thinking exactly the same about her top. It dominates the image and the neckline of the top is very strange. I almost gave it a landscape crop because of all these things but decided to convert it to B&W.

Also, I don't think Becky is as comfortable in front of the camera as Gina. She's alot like me in that respect. I'd much rather be behind the camera than in front of it.

This one is a little more pleasing I think.

Becky's more "the girl next door" type. Like me

    Re: Becky

Alison - I'd like to see a shot of her in a dark(er) business suit, perhaps facing the camera more direct-on instead of turning her head to the side. -GB

Your latest print renditions are much richer. As for her pose it works for me, hay she's fourteen. How many fourteen years olds are running around in business suit's? She probably feels over dressed with her sweatshirt on.

    Re: Becky

I like the photo(s), and I am not too picky about the the framing, as long as it is pleasant to look at. I think I judge it more by whether or not it looks believable. They look a little soft, but perhaps that's what you wanted. I really like the way the flowers in the background coordinate with her blouse.
