    Re: The base

i really like the rocks in the water in the foreground ( as compared to the photo w/o the rocks) however i do think the water fall in the background (behind the trees) is a bit distracting. perhaps shoot more towards the main waterfall instead of its side to eliminate the background one.

I doubt he has that waterfall in his backyard just to take a different shot... No, a much easier solution is to clone, nobody well ever notice it if you do it right.

Nicely captured, I have to agree about the waterfall behind the trees, However, you have the option of dodging it to make it less obtrusive or cloning it out.

Hey ray, nice capture here. the shutter speed was long enough to get nice smooth waters. I like the way you composed it as well. I think there's a bit of a green tint to this shot. u can level it in photoshop. I tried and even a slight "Auto Levels" will get rid of it.

    Re: The base

Thanks for all the CC it really helps me out a lot. I tried to clone out the side waterfall and also did a little hue and color correction. This is what I came up with. I'm not good at all with a cloning tool.

    Re: The base

massive improvement, I think it needs some rotation and you have a real interesting shot.

fwiw, if you get to reshoot this, I think the swirling/moving foreground water is much more interesting than the waterfall. the waterfall is only important to me in order for me to feel a sense of power and the cause for the seemingly violent water movement. That said, I'd like to see more of the current foreground and less waterfall, if anything.

You did well on the background waterfall. I prefer the color on the first.
This is Western Washington and it is GREEN!

he said it was an hour, hour and a half from his house. and im against cloning etc in photos so..... plus advice is given for future photo shoots in different locations, or maybe he already had one from that angle.

I prefer the second photo, it looks fantastic. For some reason, it looks very different to most of the other waterfall photo's you see. Well done!

I tried to shoot from every angle that I could. I think I ended up with about 160 or so Raw images of base of the falls.
Maybe this one is more of what you are looking for.
