    Barn and Balloon

One of my favorite subjects in Fairbanks.

I like your image but would crop out half the foreground.

Wow, this could be a great photo! I would cut out as much foreground as possible and bring out the subject of the photo, the barn and the ballon. The sky is terrific in this shot and works really well with the b/b.

    Nice shot however.

No question to me that some of that foreground could be removed. When I look at the image with less foreground the balloon is more prominent which works ok for me.

Nothing wrong with the image the way it is though, the foreground puts more emphasis on this being a farm image with a balloon in the sky. Reduce the foreground and the image changes to a balloon floating over a barn.

For me it works either way.

I like it as is. Maybe you could bring out some more color in PS, but over all this is a beautiful picture as is.

A good image as it is, but I think a crop from half the fg would help, aslo cropping out the house to the left of the barn. I just feel that focusing more tightly on the barn and balloon would bring this picture more to where I would have liked to see it. As it stands, a very nice picture.

    Re: Barn and Balloon

Thanks for the comments. I have viewed the shot cropped to more like a 645 neg. and you're right, a definite improvement. Kudos to Canon's G series on this one, this was shot with a G2 the year of my "No SLR for You" start with digital photography. I was trying to incorporate the field of grass as a foreground subject here, but it just ended up being a little boring. My post in Viewfinder explains my aversion and pain with PP. I will have to learn, and eventually it will increase my enjoyment, but right now it's like doing long algebra to me: something I dont' understand very well or do very well.

If you take pictures like this without PP, you'll be awesome when you start. Not a bad way to learn....
