    Barbados Shines

Here is another pic from Barbados.

I think I need to bump up some of the mids to get rid of some of the darker shadows. The sun is blown out but I kinda like it like that. The reflection in the middle is the Atlantic. This is near the golf course where Tiger Woods was married. Beautiful golf course.

    1/1600 sec, F/4.5, ISO 100.

Thanks for any input and feedback. I am enjoying taking pictures and hope to begin to make instead of take pictures soon.

Maybe I should crop it a bit on the left to get rid of the "extras."

This photo would of benefited by using a graduated gray filter. You have lost all the detail in the trees.

That's exactly the kind of feedback I need to improve.

    Thanks for the insight!

Yes a graduate would have helped a bunch. I preach about the use of them almost to much. But it is the one thing that most photgs could do that would easily improve there pictures. Graduates really can add detail to the sky and balance a shot.

    Re: Barbados Shines

The main culprit is taking the shot aiming south, approximately into the sun. This pretty much creates a silhouette effect. If you have some really interesting shapes in the scene then that can be good sometimes. As everyone denoted, here it robs the scene of detail.

They also sell a graduated ND filter. They're expensive but are completely neutral in color. But I think the gray would work better in this scene.

Aside from the other advice and suggestions given, this picture has no real subject. A ship out on the Atlantic, or a couple walking along the side of the road with their shadows thrown, or even a car whizzing by would add. The scene itself is not spectacular enough to hold it's own by itself without an additional element to.
