St Mary's Bridge

I've posted other versions of this shot before. I'm getting it ready for club competition. Does it look like a good candidate? Good stuff? Bad stuff? Any PS that needs doing (undoing)? TIA, TF

Love the color and contrast, especially the mauves and pinks of the bridge. My only nitpik is that the roadway on the bridge is a tad overexposed and could be a bit darker but besides that, a very nicely done image.

Try using a burn brush at about 10% along the top of the near bridge railting and the closest light post on that side. Set the hardness to 0 so it feathers out on the sides and that should help to really define the lines between the bridge & roadbed and lightpost & roadbed. Other than that, it looks like a shoe-in :thumbsup:

Nice colors.
At f/5.6 I would like your focal point to have been closer; at about whee the jogger is on the bridge. Did you sharpen?
This is being nit picky as it is very nice.

You might clone the branches on the right side but this is certainly a very good shot. The colors are awesome. Nice work and the placement of the jogger is perfect. Well done.

Love the colors and as stated above is a nice pic...my only suggestion or possible point of improvement is to try a different angle...some how I feel that the angle of the bridge is a little bit forced, don´t know if taking the pic from a lower point or a little more parallel to the bridge will aid in the composition. HTH

Great stuff, I'm with jetrim on this one the right hand rail needs to be defined more from the road surface, burn tool perhaps. This might also enhance the road texture. Foliage is awesome though. Oh and water looks better this time.......

Here is my latest.

Chris and Jetrim - I gave the pink granite more pink and highlighted the rail.

Frog - The first one was the ‘high’ setting on the ‘sharpen for screen’ in the LightRoom Export. I sharpened this one in PS using the High Pass Filter.

Greg - I got the pine branch – I think that’s the one you meant.

BlueRob – Thanks. When I get another chance to go back in there, I’ll try many different shots.

hminx – How would you enhance (get more detail, right?) the road deck?

I really appreciate all the help. I’ve been at it a little over a ear now and I just keep learning the obvious – there’s way more to learn. ‘Seeing’ is the hardest. I can read the book on the technical end, but seeing just comes with practicing correctly.

You seem to have made the bridge pinkish now perhaps if you could leave the side rails that nice sandy colour as in the first pic but darken ( burn tool ) the road surface only.

These reads are most interesting. Never saw the railing issue until it was pointed out. It's a beautiful photo! Personally, I would like the bridge a little less pink, but still somehow keep the separation of the railing from the road -- the pink of the bridge and the orange of the tree somewhat clash for me -- though the vibrancy of the colors is very appealing to me. i'm sure you will do well in the competition!
