    Balcony chairs

Shot this at work - yes ! another photo without motorsport in it !
    Ground level is 3rd floor.
The chairs and table are on the 5th floor walkway.
Side view shot from 5th floor
Top view shot from 6th floor.
General view (last image) shot from 4th floor.

I don't think I really get the feeling of height I wanted in the top view.
But I like the symmetry (highlighted by the asymmetric colour) of the side shot.

    Any suggestions for improvement?

    Re: Balcony chairs

Those first two look quite good to my eye. The third, not so much.
There is a white speck at bottom of second post in #2. I'd clone it out.
Everything else looks good. Love the bright colors against the drab backgrounds.

    Re: Balcony chairs

    Thanks, Frog.
The third one was only to show the layout of the building, to give people an idea of what I was working with. I'm surprised you like it at all, actually

Do you think I've lost the depth in the second shot, by using the zoom?
Or does it still have enough of a layered look?

    Re: Balcony chairs

I like the first two. In the first one I like all of the lines and shadows. The whites and grays make the yellow and orange stand out more. I also like the second one I feel you placed the chairs well and the yellow and orange stand out well in that one too. I also like the clean modern look to it. The third one looks a little soft and I think could use another element. Nice work Paul.

    Re: Balcony chairs

    Thanks Greg.
    Looks like I succeeded in 1 & 2 then.

Maybe if I shoot these again I'll move the chairs and place them for effect, this was just on the spur of the moment walking out to go home, when I spotted the lights were on and the patterns caught my eye.

The 3rd was only a GA shot to show the building.

    Re: Balcony chairs

Very nice, Paul. No engines in them chairs? they have some fast colors . . .
I like the first two alot as everyone else. the third is lacking a subject or something a bit more and is too dark.
The second shot is not losing it's layered depth due to compression of the telephoto, thanks I think to the colorful chairs floating right up to the front. A good document type shot that i find interesting although not the framing sore of image I think. The 1st image is really very good and worthy of a frame and a place on the wall. I would suggest cropping off half if not all of the white layer at the bottom. The strong symetry, colors and shadows really make it an attractive image.

    Re: Balcony chairs

I guess there is some depth loss in the second but not all that much and not so it would be noticed without it being pointed out. I obviously didn't notice it in first reply.
The white at the bottom of the first doesn't bother me and I think you'd lose a lot if you cropped it out as the chairs would then be not so well located in the shot.
    Half maybe, all not. imho

    Thanks, Gary.
I take little steps out of the comfort zone from time to time.
Maybe I'm on the way to becoming a photographer, not just motorsport photographer
