    Badlands

I have tried twice to upload a decent photo and they all look like, well you know. I removed this one, but the second doesn't look great either. I will upload to my photo bucket account and see how that goes.

I am going to try this again, that one looks terrible on re sizing it. I deleted the first and I am semi satisfied with this one. I usually don't have this trouble with re sizing.

Great scene but the subject is over exposed and I think there is too much foreground.
If its close, try going when the light is better. Worthwhile scene.

I have to agree with Frog, it looks over exposed. I feel that you needed more sky and less foreground, maybe a crop to more a panorama format.

A bit overexposed but very nice nature setting. You used a wide angle lens?

    Re: Badlands

Hmmm, looking at the histogram there is barely anything clipped. I'll clip a couple of highlights to get the rest of the scene, in this case the clouds are a little clipped. I compensated exposure in RAW processing +.7 as I felt the original was a bit dark. In the upload I admit things are a bit washed out. I had a lot of trouble getting this one to look like it does on my computer online.

I think this photo would look better if you improve the contrast and the colors a bit. I took the liberty to load up your photo on photoshop. I found a lot of blue in the photo. But if what you saw there in person is what you're showing in your photo, who am I to say you're wrong ;-)

    Re: Badlands

I think this image has too many elements that are all in about an equal proportion in the frame making the image fairly static; 1) the foreground with the flowers, 2) the midground with the sandy road surface and a circle of plants, 3) the hills, 4) the sky.

I think if you had shot from a lower position closer to the flowers you would have brought out the flowers more, hidden the less interesting midground and brought out the sky more while leaving the hills as they are in this image. Then there would be only 3 elements in a more dynamic image.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Badlands

I think it is not a bad composition, but the mid ground area of the scene is not very interesting and there is alot of it. The lighting here also is not helping this. . . .too harsh.
The suggestion of getting down lower is an interesting one but alos if you had the time, try to venture around for a different lead up to the mountains in better light.
