Back in the Sirup Grove - Redux

A different angle and slightly different time of day.

How does this variation work for you?

    Thanks,

I think I'd try to burn the brighter areas a little to soften the light but I enjoy the composition. I get the feel of layers of buckets so to speak. I like your idea.

I like it better but my eye keeps getting drawn to the bent tree joint instead of the buckets. The tree just seems to overpower the buckets. I like the idea that you have of using the tree to trying to frame the buckets, unfortunately I don't have a good suggestion of how to help you more.

Seb said something interesting about layers of buckets. After he said that I saw the 3 trees (or more?) in a row with buckets. I wonder if there's an interesting composition with that?

Oooh - I just looked at your picture again, and I see that you kind of have a frame going with the smaller trees and branches in the shot you have. What about using those instead? I'm attached crop to show what I mean. This may not be best crop since I did it quick but you may get the idea of what I'm getting at. What do you think?

Here's a different crop that uses the interesting row of buckets on the side and (I think) deemphasizes the broken tree a bit. I hope you don't mind the reposts.

Re: Back in the Sirup Grove - Redux

Thanks for the comments and variations on the cropping.

Multiple subject photos are indeed tricky to get to "flow" or work. I had tried several variations on this one including an elevation (standing on REALLY big log, about 4 feet in diameter) and shooting down to frame the buckets and from on the ground and even used a reversed tripod.

I kept coming back to this area and this scene and these were two that I liked the elements and worked on framing it.

The broken tree is as important I feel as the buckets to the woodland scene.

Seb, I've got one more to post that I hope will play on the layers idea quite a bit more. I'll try to get it posted in the next few days.

    Thanks again for the comments.
