I like pictures in the snow. It appears to be a little overly blue, especially in the shadows, and I have noticed that many of my shots come out that way, too. Is that typical for snowy shots? And does it need to be corrected?

Well in fact the shadows on snow are blue for two reasons. The snow reflects the sky and the yellow tone from the low light in the Winter sky creates a color contrast shadow. Notice that the top of the photo, trees and other details are not too blue.
my camera would produce a warmer less blue tone than that.. its largely what u are used to seeing i think.. and perhaps the monitor u are seeing the image on..
