    John,

Great shot. The reflections are superb and the saturation is bang on. I wouldn't change a thing (though maybe trying it in black and white would be a good idea!)

    Re: The Back Door

John - A very good shot overall. The brick and strong geometry create a pretty powerful image. I do like the tight cropping on the sides where the edge of the photo nears the windows, but I don't really like the tightness at the top - just seems too close for comfort to me, and what appears to be a light at the top of the door is clipped off. I think you did that so the sides were the way you wanted them (?) Perhaps it's better to move back and not get the sides so close, then crop it after the shot in a digital manipulation program like PhotoShop. I like the ramp on the side btw - creates a nice 3-D effect.

I'm going to have to get back to that and see if I can change that crop. It shouldn't be that clipped. I must not have noticed when I was pp'ing. I'll repost a corrected version.

Yes, i think if you re-compose the crop to include the light, it would make a difference. I also would love to see this shot in Black and White or even low saturation.

    Re: The Back Door

Well-----I screwed up. The original shot had clipped the top off the light, so I cropped a smidge more, and cloned out the bottom of the light. That'll teach me
I will also post a b & w or low saturation version tomorrow. Thanks for catching that fellows.

Black and white version. The awning is a problem.

    Re: The Back Door

I think you should leave it in color actually. That black awning definately throws a wrench in the black and white shot. Good edit though.

    Re: The Back Door

Color is really the strongest of the 2 photos for me , i agree that the awning is to dark for a B&W. But what realy makes this photo for me is the way you captured the refections in the windows . Well done

    Re: The Back Door

John, I think you have come close enough to make one of these images work. The slightly cut off light at the top is troublesome and would have been better with all of it included, however, your crop of totally eliminating it solves that issue. I like the b&w version, but the color looks fine to me as well. The black awning does not bother me in the b&w version. The cellar hatch in the front really adds to the depth and keeps the picture from being too balanced. It is a well included feature. Good work, John.

    Re: The Back Door

Darn work's been keeping me away from my hobby again, so I've got 2 full pages worth to critique.

    John,

It might be me but the last crop was really good but for me the floor of the building needs to be aligned with the bottom edge of the frame and then use the transform skew tool to align all the sides so that the pattern matches the frame.

Other thn that its an excellent shot.
