Not a Bird (or a Bug)

I took this photo today with a D70 and Nukon 180mm 2.8 set at ISO 1000, f/2.8, and 1/125 on a tripod. Please share your comments and suggestions.

I like it. I like the dof as the headstock starts to fade off into blur, just right. Even though it does not appear that the boy has any expression on his face, he looks to be mature and intelligent, especially for his age. This is what i get from the photo. My only nitpik, and this is just a nitpik, is to up the highlights in ps ever so slightly. Very well done. hmmm, so you can do people shots very well too, huh.

I'm no expert, but what I do to help my photos of people is: using my photo editing software, I isolate the person's eyes and sharpen them ever so slightly. I find that doing this makes the person's gaze even more captivating to the viewer.

    Very nice

I like the shot alot. But I'm even more impressed by the clarity and lack of grain at ISO 1000. If you tell me that's a typo it will break my heart.

Thanks for all the comments. The idea about sharpening the eyes is a good one. I sometimes do that, but not here. It was shot at ISO 1000. That's not a typo. One nice and little known thing about the D70 is that you can set if for an automatic ISO boost. I have it set to ISO 200 and aperture priority. If the shutter speed drops lower than 1/125, it will boost the ISO accoridingly to bring it up to 1/125.
