    My only holiday photo

Perhaps my only holiday themed photo I took. Comments and critique welcome.

    Re: My only holiday photo

I really like the soft lighting in this photo. I also like that the entire image is a little soft. Nothing seems to be real crisp and I think that helps set the mood of the photo. The image also appears to be very graining, but I don't think this is a bad thing for this image. All of these things combined really add a "home for the Holidays" feel for the image. This looks like it could have been taken at Grandmas house 30 years ago, and I like that.

    Dear Mark,

    Norman Rockwell?!?!?
I never conceived in my wildest dreams that it would turn out that way. I used Fuji Superia 1600 without a flash. I think the grain might give it that oil paint quality. Something to remember for next time I guess. Thanks for the unexpected comment.

It reminds me of a n.r. pic. I can't recall seeing one w/out people in it. youre photo has a warm old fashioned feel. Ive tried to shoot holiday dinner tables before, and have never had good results. This is my impression, not a critique. Looking at it makes me feel good!

    P.S.
It's the grain and the available light. Soft and warm, but sharp enough.

    Re: My only holiday photo

Depends on what you are looking for here:
As a "commercial" pic the right candle is shining through the wine bottle, there is a clutter of silverware in the foreground, the handle of the coffee cup is not visible, the foreground chair is too tight to the table, the curtains are not straight and the light through the top of the window pulls your attention away form the table.
As a mood photo it works quite well, although I would still crop the top portion of the windows.
It does give that nice family feel to this viewer.
