that's a very cool shot, kind of looks like the bird just came out of nowhere. I like it a lot, if I was to say anything to critique the photo, I would have like to see the bird a little closer, or little more of a head on view. But obviously you can't really help that, and it looks great anyways. Good shot.

I'm impressed, not just because catching any bird in flight is very difficult, but that a dove is the hardest of all. They fly at up to 60 mph and never glide, so their wing movements rapid. You must have IS and used a fairly fast shutter speed. And with a 50mm, it must have been very close. I think you were both good and lucky.
Try cropping slightly from the left.

Since you used a 50mm, I'm thinking you have done some serious cropping or got really lucky to have it fly so close.
What about the picture has changed how you look at photography?

What a shot! To me, this is rich in symbolism - the angelic arch of the wings, the light on the bird of peace surrounded by darkness, the high contrast of light and dark found on one creature...I could go on...

I could see this having potential as a greeting card I would buy.

I'm curious as well -- what has changed in your thinking?

    Re: B&W Dove

I was a student of artistic photography and I was assigned to photograph the Wind, I was frustrated because you can't photograph what you can't see so first i tried to photograph a girl with long hairs in wind (see the collection: http://www.kstudioworks.com/page.asp?id=66).
One day i was out with my friends in nature and I saw some doves flying, so without having time to even adjust the camera and think i just took 3 shots. 3 days later when I was reviewing my photos I saw this picture...
My teacher approved this photo only as Wind.
It made me to believe there is an absolute moment of photography and when thinking stops true Art begins.
