    B+W Bottom Bracket

This is my first post to the forum, I think there will be more. Taken with a EOS Elan IIE with a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 and a tripod. Ilford 3200 film. I scanned the negative with an Epson RX500 all-in-one scanner-printer. I like the photo, but would it bet better with a different focus point or different lighting? Any opinions are welcome. Thanks!

    Welcome,
I like this also and think you did a good job framing it and the angle is right so that we can see the bearing on what looks to be the pedal bearing of a bicycle. I think you were right with the focal point but would have benefited a bit by stopping down a couple stops. Maybe f8 or f11 would have just brought the foremost part into better clarity and helped this image. Contrast is good as well.
I think you have the same lens that I use alot. is this the one with 1:2 macro capability? I find it to be a great lens for the money.
Look forward to seeing more from you . . . .

I appreciate the comments. The lens is the one you speak of, with the macro switch and the extra focusing range that comes with it. It was actually a Christmas gift, but everywhere I've seen it, the price was very reasonable. The only problem I have had with the lens is that the camera has difficulty with the AF through it in low light situations...not that much of a complaint, though.

    hey
intersting shot and great for all the reasons already stated by gahspidy, and i will agree with him that this picture could benifit possibly by stopping down a bit. maybe get that allen bolt into focus? the rest of the picture is simple enough that it isnt much of a distraction but that out of focus allen bolt and surrounding area is just a little too strong and seems to cover up the area in focus

    keep em coming

I like this image a lot... reminds me to get out and take more bike photos!

My main critique is centered around cropping... i would extend the frame up more, to not cut off the top of the hub, and also extend probably a little bit to the right. I personally like the aperture value you've chosen...

    Cheers, Stew

There's never anything wrong with a bike photo. Due to the positive feedback, there'll be more too. I did intend on having a limited DOF, but I like the idea of stopping down a bit too. I do like the cropping idea as well,
    Thanks!
